Omar McLeod created history on Tuesday night when he became the first Jamaican male to win a gold medal in the 110m hurdles at the Olympic Games, blazing to glory in 13.05 seconds. The most consistent male hurdler in the last two seasons, McLeod came into the event the heavy favourite and safely navigated his way to the final with efficient but careful performances in the heats and semifinals.

Jamaica's athletes continued their quest for medals as action got going on day two of athletics at the xxxi Olympiad happening in the Brazilian capital Rio De Janeiro. seven of the eight athletes in action made progress to the next round of their respective events.

As the curtains came down on the 2016 staging of the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Senior Athletics Championships, there was mix feelings of joy and disappointments coming from different circles on Sunday's final day.

There were nine scheduled finals for the championship final day. Action got going at 5:00 with action from the women’s Javelin and High Jump Finals.

The Inaugural staging of the Racers Grand Prix produced at least some nail-biting finishes, races so closely contested that had fans and supporters yelling themselves hoarse, screaming at the stadiums big screen, as they watched the athletes pushing with every stride to go just a little bit harder.

The Men's 100m was the race was one of the events that many spectators inside the national came out to witness. The event pitted three of Jamaica’s top 100m sprinters of all times against each other - going head to head in a super weight clash.
