The recent call up to the national women’s team came as quite a surprise for Jodi-Ann Thomas. With most senior players suffering from a lack of inactivity due to the absence of a league last year, the former UWI Women’s FC player had not kicked a ball in anger for quite a while.

Defending champions Barbican FC and Waterhouse FC put some daylight between themselves and Arnett Gardens in Zone A of the Sherwin Williams Women’s Football league after match day four on Wednesday.

Both teams are locked on 9 points after three wins following away victories in midweek. Barbican were given a scare at the Racing Oval when former champions Portmore Strikers took the lead four minutes before half time through Kay Ann West to go in 1-0 at the break.

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad – West Indies have completed four days of outstanding work so far and Head Coach Ottis Gibson expects his team to finish off the job with a comprehensive victory over New Zealand on Friday’s final day.

After being beaten in the opening match in Jamaica, the Windies have been dominant and look set to record a series-levelling victory in second Test match at Queen’s Park Oval.

A day after being sacked as head coach of the UWI Women’s football team, legendary female football coach Dwayne Richards has been snapped up by Boys Town to head up their women’s programme.

The club which has never been part of the national women’s league set-up, despite its long history in Jamaican football, will be entering the Sherwin Williams/JFF Women’s Football League for the very first time.

“When we heard of the availability of Richards we jumped at the chance to get him,” Andrew Price of Boys Town said.
