Olympic and World Championship quarter miler Javon Francis clocked 20.66 seconds to win his season opening 200 meter race at the PVAMU Back To The Track Series on Thursday

The 25-year-old American beat out runner-up Elijah Hall, who finished in 20.77 seconds in section two, while Kahmari Montgomery who won section one in 20.86 seconds completed the podium spots.

Photo: Jamaica will begin their quest for the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 final round qualification in June 2021. They along with Mexico, USA, Costa Rica and Honduras are already through to the final qualification round. 





The new Concacaf World Cup qualification format was revealed by the regional body on Monday, even as it was announced that five teams have already qualified for the final stage which will begin in June 2021.

The Rio Olympics 2016 got underway on Wednesday with Women’s football and Germany made a huge statement if intent when they clobbered African minnows Zimbabwe 6-1. Other winners on the day were defending Olympic champions and World champions, USA, their North American neighbours Canada, France, Sweden and hosts Brazil who had a comprehensive 3-0 win over China.

Sweden got the ball rolling at the games with a narrow 1-0 win over South Africa courtesy of a strike from Nilla Fischer who capitalized on a goalkeeping error.

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz put in a stellar performance in front of a sell out crowd and made history by dethroning the defending champions USA 2-1 in their CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-final match at the Georgia Dome on Wednesday night.

Jamaica qualified for their first ever CONCACAF Gold Cup final tonight when they defeated defending champions the USA 2-1 inside the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Heading into the games as huge underdogs, the Winfried Schafer coached team showed good composure early on before having to withstand a period of USA dominance midway the first half.

The United States took the game to the Guatemalans from the opening whistle and looked very dangerous around the eighteen yard box. They had a couple of long range efforts that failed to trouble Nicholas Gooden. Guatemala found it hard to play as the United States players were quick to close their markers.

USA could have taken the lead in the 16th minute but Thomas Thompson's powerfully shot from seven yards was well saved by the Guatemala custodian. USA was seeing most of the possession but gave the ball away too easily.

All roads lead to the National Stadium (The Office) on Friday the 9th of January 2015 for the kick- off of the inaugural CONCACAF U-20 Championships. Twelve teams are divided into two groups (A, B) consisting of six teams each.

The group winners qualify automatically for the final of the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, while the runners-up and third place teams are reseeded amongst each other and will play-off for the last two CONCACAF slots at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Once again in the FIFA World Cup the substitute introduced by Marc Wilmots made a significant impact and led Belgium to victory. A dominant display by the Red Devils which saw US goalkeeper Tim Howard made a record 16 saves in a World Cup match, was rewarded by two goals with Romelu Lukaku at the heart of things.
