The University of the West Indies FC (UWI FC) retuned to the top of the Red Stripe Premier League for a few hours on Sunday after they clipped former champions Waterhouse FC 1-0 at the UWI Bowl courtesy of a 17th minute strike from Davion Garrison.

Portmore United climbed to the top of the Red Stripe Premier League for the first time in the 2016-2017 season when they registered their third win on the trot on Wednesday, clipping former league leaders UWI FC 1-0 at the UWI Mona Bowl. An 87th minute strike from Maalique Foster was enough to earn all three points for the visitors on a day when all six games played in the league, ended in 1-0 score lines.

A 1-0 away win over leaders Humble Lion FC courtesy of an 84th minute penalty from captain Rochane Smith, allowed the University of the West Indies FC to continue their great run in the Red Stripe Premier League on Sunday.

Humble Lion FC became the first team in the Red Stripe Premier League this season not to fall from the top of the table the week after going to the summit, when they played out a 1-1 draw with Portmore United last weekend.

The 37 year old has returned to training with the club and is hopeful of returning to the fray when the league resumes from its impromptu break, enforced by Hurricane Matthew.

Photo: Rohan Richards has started the season with a bang, scoring four goals for Jamalco FC to lead the scoring charts, just as his team have risen to the top of the Red Stripe Premier League. Jamalco has won three games in a row, scoring three goals in each match.




A brace from the red hot Rohan Richards helped guide Jamalco FC to the top of the Red Stripe Premier League, when they clipped Marverley/Hughenden FC 3-2 in a pulsating game at the Constant Spring Field on Sunday.

KINGSTON, Jamaica: UWI Football Club is the latest team to join the coveted fraternity of Lucozade-sponsored teams.  On Wednesday, September 14, Lucozade Ribena Suntory announced that it will be sponsoring the Mona-based outfit in the 2016/17 Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) season.

The other Lucozade-sponsored team is Harbour View Football Club, a mainstay and top performer in the Premier League. Both teams were presented with sponsorship cheques and products during a function at the offices of Cari-Med Limited, local distributors of Lucozade.
