President of the MVP Track and Field Club, Bruce James, is quite pleased with the effort his organization made in staging the track and field event called Velocity Fest Trilogy 2020 during the month of July.

There was major disappointment in the morning session of day two of the IAAF World Championships in London for Jamaica as pre-championship medal favourite, O’Dayne Richards, failed to advance to the final round of the Men’s Shot Put.

Six Jamaicans out of a total of eight advanced in their respective disciplines on Friday’s opening night of the 16th IAAF World Championships in London; on the same night that Great Britain’s greatest middle distance runner of all time, Mo Farah, claimed his third World Championship 10,000 gold medal in a row, in his last World Championships.

It is only fitting that at the Championships where he will call time on his historic and legendary career, Jamaican sprinting icon Usain Bolt will highlight day one of the IAAF World Athletics Championships which begins on Friday in London, England.

Defending Olympic champions, new contenders and several past world championship and Olympic team members, past, present and future, all met in big clashes inside the National Stadium on Friday at the ongoing Jamaica National Track & Field Championship.

There were plenty of surprise triumphs on Friday for the younger generation, but Elaine Thompson and Yohan Blake managed to secure another national title in their events.

The MVP star made her season’s debut at Saturday’s 16th staging of the Queens/Grace Jackson Invitational inside the National Stadium, in Kingston Jamaica.

At the age of 24, Andrew Fisher who donned the black, green and gold during his junior years and part of his senior career for Jamaica, has now chosen to continue his career for the Asian country, Bahrain.

The young sprinter is aiming to make history by becoming the first athlete to win an individual medal for the Asian nation at the Olympics, when he competes in Rio later this year.

Photo: 20 year old Shericka Jackson will be hunting a medal in her first World Championships when she contests the final on Wednesday.

Jamaica’s historic performances at the 15th IAAF World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China, continued unabated on Tuesday, even though no medals were garnered by the athletes of the tiny Caribbean Island. Four women contested the semi-finals of the 400m and they all progressed to the final, a first for Jamaica.
