Omar McLeod lifted the gloom in the Jamaican camp on Monday when he won gold in the men’s 110m hurdle final at the IAAF World Championships in London. Following two days of despair where both Usain bolt and Elaine Thompson had failed to land expected gold medals, it was left up to the Olympic Champion to deliver the goods.

After enduring a forgettable day two and day three at the IAAF World Championships in London, Jamaican track and field fans will be hoping for a better day four and that the country will finally land what has been an elusive gold medal.

With numerous travel hicupps and delays along with limited preparation time, Ricardo Cunningham was well aware that it was going to take a whole lot of mental strength and fortitude to survive his first London test at the IAAF World Championships on Sunday morning.

The Men’s 400m hurdlers set the tone for a good morning for Jamaica on Day three of the IAAF World Athletics Championships as all three athletes navigated the full lap obstacle race to advance to the semifinal round tomorrow.

With no sponsors, structured training group or team, Ricardo Cunningham has only had a vision and dream and that is what drove him to finishing third at the just concluded Jamaica Administrative Athletic Associations (JAAA) 2017 National Athletic Championships in the 400m hurdles.

The 2014 World Junior champion in the 400 metres hurdles and the 2013 World Youth champion in the 110 metres hurdles, Jaheel Hyde, has been one of the top and most consistent Jamaica 400m Hurdler this year, and is among the nation's contenders for the London World Championships which include the 2017 NCAA Bronze medalist and top Jamaican Kemar Mowatt.

The reigning bronze medalist from the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Roxroy Cato, ran a season’s best time 48.96 seconds to secure third spot at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships on the weekend. The USA based hurdler was nothing less than a satisfied campaigner and immediately started counting his blessings, in making the cut for another senior team and a consecutive Olympic teams.

World Championship silver medallist Elaine Thompson defended her 100m crown in a sizzling wind-assisted 10.71 seconds (+2.4m/s) at the 13th staging of the Jamaica International Invitational Meet (JIIM) on Saturday, inside the National Stadium.

The 2015 National 200m champion blew away the field, including American English Gardner who was second in 10.85 seconds and Trinidadian Michelle-Lee Ahye who secured third in 10.98 seconds.
