The highly anticipated track and field section of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games gets going tonight local time. The running of the Women’s 100m is set to close the show on what is effectively the morning session in Japan.

Velocity Fest 9 will mark yet another restart of local track and field today at the National Stadium in Kingston. The meet which is put on by the MVP Track Club will feature a number of the nation’s top athletes, who were only this week named to represent Jamaica at the World Athletics Relays is Chorzow, Poland on May 1 & 2 and is set to last for two hours.

Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson-Herah delivered on her promise to produce something special when she sped to a world leading 10.85s (0.2m/s) in the Women’s 100m at the Rome Diamond League on Thursday.

Thompson-Herah who isn’t usually the quickest out of the blocks, got a bullet start and that early advantage saw her cruise to victory over a quality field in the Golden Gala Stadio Olympico.
