The Honourable Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport announced today that the statue to be erected in honour of Jamaica’s leading female sprinter, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, is now in the island.

GC Foster College closed the special sprinting course for the six Chinese coaches who are in Jamaica as part of a government to government (Jamaica to China) scholarship arrangement. The graduation exercise was held at the Knustford Court Hotel in Kingston.

The six coaches who graduated last night are Li Xiumei, Yan Juntao, Chen Hongtao, Yan Hui, Zhang Yingbo and Wang Anlee They received a special diploma in sprinting. The course was patterned off the IAAF course for the discipline.

Six Chinese Coaches arrived in the island Saturday night for the start of the government to government scholarships offered to China by the Jamaican government.

The six represent a portion of the 10 scholarships which were offered.  The other four who will arrive in September will be full time students at the college and will focus on sprinting.
