Bayern Munich secured a favourable draw as they look to defend the UEFA Champions League title they secured only a few weeks ago. In what is the fastest turnaround in the history of the competition, the German champions will face Atletico Madrid, Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moscow in Group A in the first round of the 2020-21 season.

In Group B, Real Madrid, who have won the competition the most of any club, will face a powerful Inter Milan team along with Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Lionel Messi has delivered at massive blow to Barcelona by officially declaring his desire to leave the club.

Barcelona suffered their worst defeat in Europe when they were thrashed 8-2 by Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League a few days ago, which is believed to be the last straw for the Argentine.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich avoided any potential banana skins, as they eased through to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League on Saturday with routine wins over Napoli and Chelsea respectively.

The UEFA Champions League draw took place on Thursday, providing some interesting match-ups for the fans to look forward to.

Jose Mourinho will take his Chelsea team to Porto, the place where he won his first major European title. Chelsea has also drawn Dynamo Kiev and Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Arsene Wenger must be tired of the sight of Bayern Munich, having seen his team knocked out by the German champions in the last two seasons but will have to cope with playing them twice this season.

The returning Manchester United will face PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg.

Barcelona’s victory over Villarreal to book their place in the Copa del Rey final has been marred by an ankle injury to midfielder Sergio Busquets. The 26 years old Spanish midfielder was substituted in the 40th minute after a clash with Tomas Pina. The television replays showed that Busquets came out of the challenge worse as he took a nasty blow on his ankle which left the La Masia graduate in pain.

Despite lifting the La Liga trophy just over a year ago, Catalonia giants Barcelona has struggled to hit the heights they achieved under Frank Rijkaard and of course under Pep Guardiola. The Blaugrana has remained competitive in the Spanish top flight and in Europe, but have yet to really spark since the departure of Guardiola.
