Inter Milan, Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Copenhagen and Manchester United all booked their spots in the quarter final round of the Europa League following wins on Wednesday.

Inter Milan was the only of the four teams to play a single game in the round of sixteen after their first leg game was effectively cancelled in March due to the Covid-19 virus.

This created a winner takes all scenario for Inter in their game against Getafe. Romelu Lukaku has flourished in front of goal since joining from Manchester United and was first on the scoresheet with a strike in the 33rd minute.

Jorge Molino had a glorious opportunity to pull Getafe level from the penalty spot in the second half but dragged his effort wide of the post.

Christian Eriksen, who also joined from an English club, Tottenham Hotspurs, made the points and the quarter final passage safe, in the 83rd minute, moments after coming unto the pitch, as the Italians ran out 2-0 winners.

Shakhtar Donetsk went into their return leg against Wolfsburg with a 2-1 advantage they secured in the away fixture. They left it late to make the tie safe, scoring three goals in four minutes at the end of the game.

Junior Moraes scored in the 89th and 90+3 minutes, either side of a Monor Solomon goal in the first minute of added time to wrap up a 5-1 aggregate win for the Ukrainians.

Both teams ended the contest with ten players, Davit Khocholava seeing red in the 67th minute for the hosts followed by John Brooks only three minutes later, spoiling a real chance of a comeback for the visitors.

FC Copenhagen went into their return leg trailing Basaksahir 0-1, but quickly level the aggregate score when Jonas Wind found the back of the net in the 4th minute.

The tie was evenly poised at half time, but the home team took a decisive advantage when Wind got his second in the 53rd minute from the penalty spot.

The Danish champions then put the tie to bed in the 61st minute when Ramus Falk made the score 3-0 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.

Manchester United had the largest aggregate lead of all the teams heading into the return leg against LASK but the visitors threatened to spoil the Old Trafford party when they scored first in the 55th minute through Philipp Wiesinger.

Their joy was short lived however as Jesse Lingard, who has been enjoying this competition, leveled things for United two minutes later. Second half substitute, Anthony Martial continued his fine goalscoring form, wrapping up a routine win for the Red Devils in the 88th minute for a 7-1 aggregate score line in the tie.

Based on the results yesterday, Inter Milan will face Shakhtar Donetsk while FC Copenhagen who have advanced to the quarter finals for the first time will face 2017 Champions Manchester United.
