Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, Wolves and Basel joined Wednesday’s qualifiers in the quarterfinals of the Europa League on Thursday following contracting results in the remaining fixtures of the round of sixteen contests.

Leverkusen completed a routine aggregate win with a 1-0 victory at home. Moussa Diaby ensured that the Germans won both legs when he netted in the 51st minute.

Sevilla defeated Roma 2-0 in their one-off match following the cancellation of what should have been the first leg way back in March due to the Covid-19 virus.

First half goals from Sergio Reguilon in the 21st minute and Youssef En-Nesyri in the 44th minute put the game to bed from the first half for the Spanish team.

The tie between Wolves and Olympiacos was evenly poised at 1-1 from the first leg and a first half goal from the prolific Raul Jimenez in only the 8th minute was enough to see the home team through. Wolves now join Manchester United as Premier League clubs that have advanced to the last eight.

Basel had entered their return leg against Eintracht Frankfurt with a comfortable 3-0 lead and completed the job with an 88th minute goal from Fabian Frei to increase the aggregate to 4-0.

The quarterfinals will be contested next week with Inter Milan taking on Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester United going up against FC Copenhagen on Monday while on Tuesday Shakhtar Donetsk go up against Basel and Wolves and Sevilla will do battle.
