Portmore can return to the league summit with a win over the Stars of the East. The two teams meet at the Harbour View Stadium at 8:30 tonight.

There is no let-up in Red Stripe Premier League. After an exciting weekend of fixtures, round 20 will be concluded today with fifth place Harbour View FC hosting 3rd place Portmore United.

Cavaliers SC clipped Humble lion 1-0 at Effortville on Sunday to preserve their perfect record since the start of 2016 and inched closer to that 4th spot that is up for grabs. Also on Sunday Arnett Gardens pulled off a hard fought 2-1 win over last year beaten finalist and second place in this year’s competition Mobay United at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Arnett Gardens are now on a five game winning streak and sits at the top of the pile hoping to take back to back championships.

Boys’ Town FC carved out a 0-0 draw with cellar dwellers Waterhouse FC at the Barbican Stadium. Boys’ Town lies sixth in the standings while Waterhouse is rooted at the bottom on 16 points two worst off than Rivoli United who wasn’t in action against Tivoli Gardens FC due to a postponed game. In the final game of the afternoon Reno FC was stunned 3-1 in their own back yard by new comers UWI who were winning on theroad for the first time ever.

Harbour View three strikes up

Many time champions Harbour View FC is determined to get a win today to end their winless streak. Harbour View has only managed to take 2 points from a possible nine in their last 3 games. Since losing one of their most potent strikers in recent times Brain ‘Rambo’ Brown to Indy Eleven, they have been lacking in goals. In their last 5 encounters they have scored only 4 goals and conceded 5. If they are to get anything positive from this match up Rojay Smith and Ronieke Muir have to find their shooting boots, while Ian ‘Pepe’ Goodison and his troops need to maintain the team’s shape at the back.

Portmore United aim to bounce back

Portmore United is back after playing in the lower division after a disappointing 2013/14 season. They spent a year and came back up in the top flight 2015/16 and they have made their intentions clear that they want to win the title this season. They have been playing a brand of football that the fans have gotten accustomed to which saw them rotating the lead with Mobay United in a yo yo fashion.

Portmore United has reunited with their inspirational captain and championship winner Kevin ‘Joyce’ Deer who was on target for Portmore in a 5-1 drubbing of Reno FC in their last outing. They have secured 9 points from a possible 15 from their last five games scoring 10 goals and conceded 6. Portmore has a game in hand and currently sits at 3rd on 37 points 1 behind leaders Arnett Gardens. They look the part and seem set for a top three finish as they head into the 3rd and final round of the RSPL.

Head to head

Harbour View trashed Portmore 3-0 in the last game played between the two at Middlesex Sports Comlex in Clarendon. Harbour View has a record of (3W-1D-1L) in their last 5 against Portmore United.

Portmore on the other hand has only lost four times all season but has a record of (1W-1D-3L) against Harbour view in their last 5 games. With the pressure being piled on by defending champions Arnett Gardens who have gotten stronger since the return of some of their first string players, it is a must win situation for Portmore if they are to go back on top and a similar situation for Harbour View if there are to break into top four.
