Hyde is newest National Coach

Lenworth ‘teacher’ Hyde has been appointed by the Jamaica Football Federation as Assistant National Under 20 Coach with immediate effect.

Coach Hyde will assist present National Under 20 coach Theodore Whitmore in the final stages of Jamaica’s National Under 20 team’s preparation for the CONCACAF Under 20 Championship which will be held in Jamaica, January 9-24, 2015.

Lenworth Hyde is a former outstanding national junior and senior level midfielder. He is also a well experienced and respected coach at both the youth and senior levels having been Assistant Coach of the National Under 20 team in 2008-9. He has coached three premier league teams to victory at that level.

The National Under 20 team has been in continuous training and will step up its preparation with participation in the first Copa Simon Bolivar, a Quadrangular tournament in Venezuela, December 17-21. More details will be provided on this tournament this week.

The squad trains at 4:00pm on Monday at the JFF Football Academy, UWI and on Tuesday at 3:00pm at GYMKHANA.

In welcoming Coach Hyde to the national coaching staff, President of the JFF, Captain Burrell stated ” coach Hyde has tremendous experience and

knowledge of the game as a player and coach. The Federation is doing all possible to ensure that our national team will perform at its utmost best and believes strongly that he will be a very positive input”

Lenworth Hyde replaces Coach Andrew Edwards who the Federation is allowing to give focused attention to the preparation of the National Under 17 team which will participate in World Cup qualifiers in February 2015 in Honduras.
