When Arnett Gardens visited former league champions Harbour View on day one of the Red Stripe Premier League season, they managed to come away with a narrow 1-0 win before going on an early season run that saw them lead the league. Whispers, coming out of the camp back then, were that they thought they had a squad capable of taking the RSPL trophy back to the “Jungle”.

Their form has since dipped while their opponents have slowly rounded into form to sit in fourth position after round one. Arnett has 17 points, two less than Harbour View and after ending a three match losing streak with a nervous 2-1 win over Humble Lion to close out the round, will be hoping to build on that result today.

A win for the Jerome Waite coached team at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, will see them switch places with Harbour View but it will be harder than it sounds as Andrew Hines has finally gotten his team to gel.

The defence seems to have settled in nicely and John-Ross Edwards, Nicholas Beckett and Kevaughn Frater have developed a good understanding in midfield. Ranique Muir who is third in the standings with six goals and Mckaully Tulloch have been capably leading the line for the Stars of the East. Jermie Lynch will feel he needs to be scoring more goals but he has served the team in other ways up front.

This game may be a Sunday evening blockbuster and should provide a treat for fans of the RSPL. If history is anything to go by, a result is likely in today’s game as these too don’t feature in too many draws.

Based on form, Harbour View may just reverse the opening day loss they suffered back in September.
