Jamaica’s and Southern Steel ace goal shooter, Jhaniele Fowler- Reid was the only Caribbean or Jamaican netball player to feature in the Guardian World Top 10 netballers.
A panel comprising of 10 judges all came up with their own list; points were then collated and added to points from last year’s ranking to form an overall top 10.

This year’s panel which consisted of Coaches, past players, netball commentators and Association Presidents voted just on performances in the ANZ, UKSL, Commonwealth Games and international matches in 2014. This means that this year’s performances are given more weight over the last year’s panel who voted only on ANZ, UKSL, World Cup and international match performances covering 2011, 2012 and 2013.

So the current rankings cover three years of netball – including two major tournaments, and starting from the 2011 World Cup.

The 198cm tall star shooter was voted as the 8th best player falling three places down last year’s rankings but still manage to retain her place in the top ten despite not acquiring much ranking points as in the previous season.
England’s Geva Mentor has been voted the world’s best netballer in this year’s rankings.

Mentor, a goal keeper who plays for Melbourne Vixens, pipped Australia’s Laura Geitz to the title.

The top ten in descending order reads; 10. Irene Van dyk ( former new Zealand player) 9. Caitlin Basset- Australia, 8. Jhaniele Fowler –Jamaica 7. Renae Hallinan Australia 6. Madison Robinsion- Austrailia 5. Natalie Medhurst Australia 4.Casey Kopua New Zealand 3.Laura Langman- New Zealand 2. Laura Geitz- Australia 1. Geva Mentor- England.
