Di Maria wants Real Madrid stay

Di Maria

Real Madrid’s Argentine winger Angel Di Maria has expressed his desire to stay at Real Madrid. Fresh from his man-of-the-match performance in the Champions League final, the 26 year old speedster has linked up with the Argentine camp heading to the World Cup.

Since the arrival of Gareth Bale and Isco, there has been reports that Di Maria is surplus to requirements. The Argentine is aware of the club’s willingness to sell him but hopes to remain at the Santiago Bernabeau. He told Marca, ‘I am very relaxed, now I am only thinking about the World Cup. I believe I am in good form. We will see then what happens with Madrid, if they want me to stay or if I will leave the club.’

He stressed, ‘I am very happy. I had a great year and the fans recognised that – I always had their support. Although you want to stay, sometimes you cannot because the club wants another player, or to make more signings, and needs to sell – and somebody must go. But I am very happy.’

Di Maria has been linked to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, PSG and Tottenham Hotspur. Should Madrid decide to part ways with the tricky winger, he most certainly has many options but his price is expected to be high. He is first focused on winning the World Cup with Argentina and then sort out his future.
