Reno FC out of Westmoreland, no doubt riding on the positive energy of the win by the western team Montego Bay United lifting the Red Stripe Premier League just a week ago, hammered Axum FC 4-0 as action got underway in the playoffs for the two promotion spots to the premier league.

Axum FC out of St. Mary suffered a second half blitz at the Frome Sports Complex as Reno strolled to victory in the second half. Craig Foster got Reno on the board in the 50th minute and 9 minutes later doubled he his team’s advantage.

Melvin Blair made the game safe for the former premier league campaigners in the 78th minute before the icing was put on the cake on 87 minutes by Ronario Downswell.

In the day’s other game, surprise team Jamalco edge the more fancied Barbican FC 1-0 at the Wembley Excellence Centre. The lone goal came from Mickardo Law in the 13th minute.

The next round of games will be played on Wednesday when Barbican host early leaders Reno FC while Axum will try to get back into contention when they host Jamalco. Start time for both games is 3:30pm.
