Quest Prep who fell at the final hurdle last year was crowned Samsung Cup 2014 champions for the urban area when they turned back Mona Prep 3-0 in the final at UTECH on Saturday May 24th.

After a cagey first half, in which neither team was able to break the deadlock, Jahiem Rose showed great composure to finish from close range to give his team a deserved lead early in the second half.

Playing with great confidence after the goal, Quest took charge of the game drawing from their experience of being in the final last year. Rose was on the score sheet for the second time shortly after when his low drive from distance found the corner of the net.

Mona captain Duncan McKenzie tried to rally his troops but found the Quest defence hard to break down. Quest turned back the challenge of defending all-island champions Holy Family 3-0 in the semi-final and replicated that score in the final when Rose provided a right side cross for Revaldo Mitchell to fire into an empty net.

The goal brought Mitchell’s tally to record breaking 16 after he went into the match tied on 15 with former record holder Justin Dunn of Holy Family. Rose was named finals MVP for his two goals and one assist.

Quest will now await the rural area winners which will be decided next week in Montego Bay.
