RVP facing long injury layoff

Manchester United will have to face Bayern Munich in the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League without their hat-trick hero Robin Van Persie after the striker was ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury.

Manchester United will have to face Bayern Munich in the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League without their hat-trick hero Robin Van Persie after the striker was ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury.

Van Persie was injured during the 3-0 win over Olympiakos and scans have revealed that the Dutchman has a sprained knee. He will miss domestic games against West Ham, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Manchester United manager David Moyes will hope that Van Persie returns before the full six weeks, should they be able to navigate beyond the German giants, as a six weeks absence would also rule him out of the semifinals as well.
