Francois ‘Chuu’ Swaby, the captain of Sporting Central Football Club is the China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) Star Baller of the Month for the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) for November.

Playing in all the four RSPL matches for his team in the month of November, he was nominated in all four of those games as the standout player for his team. The 25 year old forward is clearly holding his own and has been very influential in his team’s performance.

Although having just the two goals for the month he has been a main orchestrator of his team’s attack by creating goal scoring opportunities for his teammates – whether through a direct assist or by creating space with his trademark off-the-ball movements which usually pulls defenders out of position.

As a result of his performance, Sporting Central has moved up the points table, moving two places up with the four points gained, from 10th place at the start of the month to a more respectable 8th position.

His disciplinary record for the month was clean. His presence in the squad and his recognition through his nominations by his coach confirmed just how instrumental and critical his role is in his team’s push to the top.

Speaking at the awards ceremony at the offices of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) yesterday, Swaby said, “I want to thank China Harbour for their sponsorship of the league and their recognition of individual talent. I also want to say thanks to my teammates. Without them it wouldn’t be possible.”

“It is a great feeling to be given this award,” he went on to say, “all season I have been putting in the hard work and now it is bearing fruit. Personally I want to score more goals and lift my team. That is the role I need to play as the captain of the team. Our aim for the end of the second round is to at least be in the top four,” he concluded.

For his efforts, Swaby received a cheque for $30,000 and a keepsake plaque.
