The support for exceptional performances in the National Premier League football competition received another boost this week with the presentation of the first Star Coach of the Round award to Harold Thomas for his contribution in leading Harbour View FC to being champions of the round.

He was granted an impressive plaque and a JMD $75,000 cash prize from China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC)who continue to elevate the sport with individual incentives. Also on hand was the CHEC Starballer for the month of November, Francois Swaby, of Sporting Central FC, who received a keepsake plaque and JMD $30,000.

Mr. Thomas, coach of Harbour View FC, is much admired throughout the sport of football in Jamaica and is very deserving of the accolade “Star Coach”. He was a clear choice among the selectors, especially in the areas of respect and discipline.

In November, the 25 year old forward Francois Swaby orchestrated his team’s attacks by creating goal scoring opportunities for Sporting Central FC while maintaining a good disciplinary record.

In July 2013, CHEC showed their commitment to the National Premier League by donating $23 million dollars to the organizing body, the Premier Leagues Clubs Association, to help cover certain basic costs.

The company then decided that by offering rewards for special achievements such as the Star Coach of the Round and Starballer of the Month, it would benefit the sport overall as individuals would increase their efforts in the competition to reap short term rewards while working towards further goals.

CHEC is convinced that by sponsoring the league, opportunities will arise for players who dedicate themselves to the sport, while offering healthy entertainment for the fans who enjoy the weekly matches island wide.
