Man United building momentum while Adebayor inspire Tottenham Hotspur

The Barclays Premier League was at its entertaining best again this weekend as the league starts to take shape and picking up points is now crucial for every team especially those chasing Manchester United’s title and those fighting to avoid relegation.

The Barclays Premier League was at its entertaining best again this weekend as the league starts to take shape and picking up points is now crucial for every team especially those chasing Manchester United’s title and those fighting to avoid relegation.

At Old Trafford, Man United ran out 3-1 winners against West Ham. It was a good performance from the champions who saw Danny Welbeck, Adnan Januzaj and Ashley Young hit the back of the net. Januzaj, Wayne Rooney and Tom Cleverley dominated the game from the start with Cleverley being unfortunate not to have scored in the opening minute as he was denied brilliantly by Adri in goal for West Ham. Carlton Cole got the consolation for the Hammers but it was Wayne Rooney who was voted man-of-the match for his all action display as he continues his fine run of form.

The noisy neighbours Manchester City recorded a big 4-2 away win over Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Blues half of Manchester has struggled on the road this season but Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany, Jesus Navas and James Milner ensured that City took up all three points. Kieron Richardson and a Vincent Kompany own goal saw Fulham scoring twice for the home team.

Luis Suares continues his great run of form as he scored two delightful goals to set up a 3-1 victory for Liverpool at Anfield. The Uruguayan also had an assist as he set-up Raheem Sterling’s goal from a fast break. In the absence of Steven Gerrard, Suares has stepped brilliantly and has lead the team well. Jordan Henderson also put in a strong performance, running the show in midfield and showing glimpses of why Liverpool splashed out £20M for him.

Tottenham Hotspur bounced back from two heavy defeats to record a hard-fought 3-2 win over Southampton. Emanuel Adebayor, who was an outcast under Andre Villas-Boas, scored twice and justified his selection and the gamble took by interim manager Tim Sherwood. Tottenham benefited from a Jos Hooiveld own goal but strikes from skipper Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert were not enough to prevent the Londoners from taking all three points away from St Mary’s stadium.

Everton moved into the top four after a work-man like 2-1 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. The Toffees took the lead through a screamer from Seamus Coleman but the Saints equalized just minutes later through an own goal from Bryan Oviedo. The three points was won by a sublime Ross Barkley free kick, who has been in great form all season for Everton. Barkley is surely knocking on the door for a spot on England’s World Cup squad.
