Portmore United FC captain, Damion Williams has his eyes set on a return to Europe to play professional football.

The central midfielder who was clearly the man of the match in a game between August Town FC and Portmore United FC on Sunday December 22nd, guided his team to a vital 1-0 win against fellow cellar dwellers to move three points clear of them.

Portmore have already amassed the same number of points they gathered for the entire first round (7), from their opening three game of the second round. Boasting two win and one draw before the Christmas break, they are among the form teams of the second round, matching leaders Harbour View stride for stride.

Williams describe his team’s effort as a gutsy performance, “We stuck to the task despite the fact that we are not used to the early kick-off. Everyone did their job. We thank God for the three points. We are trying to step up the table and eventually get into the top four,” he stated.

“As the team leader, I try to guide the team because they are young players. We tried to keep the ball on the ground and be patient in possession, especially late in the game when we realized that one goal would be enough to secure all three points.”

“Personally I have not ruled out a return to Europe, so I will just continue to work hard for the team and put in some good performances and if the chance to return to Norway or anywhere else in Europe opens up I will certainly take it.”

Portmore are still in eleventh position in the twelve team league, but have separated themselves from August Town by three points.
