Beware of Portmore United warns Lewis

Portmore United are looking to make a push off the bottom of the Red Stripe Premier League tables during the second round and if their first three games of this round, are anything to go by, it would not be wise to bet against them doing just that.

Portmore United are looking to make a push off the bottom of the Red Stripe Premier League tables during the second round and if their first three games of this round, are anything to go by, it would not be wise to bet against them doing just that.

After picking up a miserly seven points from the first round, the Calvin Lewis coached team has already matched that points total from the first three matches of the second round and expect to continue doing well as the round progresses.

They have acquired the services once more of Jason Morrison who is back at the club after seven years away playing in Europe. Lewis is happy to have the midfielder who he says “will bring a wealth of experience and help to bolster the midfield.”

Morrison was a second half substitute in their 1-0 over August Town on Sunday December 22nd and he is expected to be joined by former player, Alonzo Adlam who has been on loan in Finland. Adlam will be available from the first game in the New Year.

Also expected back is Omar Daley who now plays in the USA, following stints in England and Scotland. Daley will be available for a small stint Lewis said.

In addition to the return of these former players, Lewis is looking to draft in two or three players to strengthen his defence and add to his striking options. The team has struggled to get goals and this is an area that requires immediate attention.

Speaking after his team’s win over August Town, Lewis said “Today’s result is a step in the right direction. We have identified what our major problem is and that is winning at home. It has been 8 months since we have done that and as soon as we rectify that situation we will be in the mix.”
