Quest hit St. Andrew for five in Henriques Cup

Quest Prep took a while to get going, but eventually showed their class against St. Andrew Prep in the Prep School Henriques Cup on Wednesday at the Emmanuel Christian Academy field.

Quest Prep took a while to get going, but eventually showed their class against St. Andrew Prep in the Prep School Henriques Cup on Wednesday at the Emmanuel Christian Academy field.

Both teams were playing in their first game of this competition but facing each other for the second time this season.

The start of the game proved to be much more competitive than their opening day meeting and the St. Andrew contingent must have felt they could get something out of the game.

That was until Tashawn Lawson opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he drove home from inside the box.

Lawson got his second on the stroke of half time to give Quest a 2-0 lead at the break.

Quest were 3-0 ahead just 2 minutes after the restart when Jhadai Williams scored directly from a free kick. Those two goals either side of half time killed off all of St. Andrews resistance, who to their credit, fought valiantly to the final whistle.

The other two goals score by Quest came a minute apart in the 47th and 48th minutes.

Errol White, coach of Quest, explained the slow start by his team: “We had a long break and this affected the tempo of our play. It took us a while to settle but the longer the game went on, the more we were able to control the game.

“We got into our own in the second half and we hope to carry over that momentum into the next round of the competition,” he explained.

In another game, played at the UWI Bowl on Wednesday, defending champions Hydel Prep showed they were ready to defend their title when they comfortably dispatched St. Peter & Paul 3-0. The semi-final round will be contested on Saturday November 23rd at the UWI Bowl starting from 11:00am.
