Vaz Prep registered the largest win in the first round of the Prep School Henriques Cup Knock Out competition on Wednesday when they blew away Alvernia Prep 9-0 in a completely dominant display at the Emmanuel Christian Academy field.

Led by a hat-trick from Jhavier Lynch and Iyare Harris and plus a brace from Taje Chamberlain the Vaz Prep team were unrelenting from the first whistle and were on the score sheet from as early as the third minute  when Harris got his first.

Captain Zidane Barnes made it 2-0 three minutes later and Jhavier Lynch got the first of his three just two minutes after that.

Another tow goal blitz in the 22nd and 23rd minutes from Taje Chamberlain and Harris completed the first half scoring as Vaz led 5-0 at half time.

Lynch got two more goals early in the second half to complete his hat-trick before being substituted right after.

Harris scored directly from a free kick ten minutes from time to complete his own hat-trick and defender Kolo Laing completed the rout from the penalty spot, eight minutes from time

The Alvernia team who were clearly out of their depth managed a single shot on target from a free kick for the entire 60 mins.

Vaz Prep coach Samuel Simba Harris was a pleased man at the end of the game.

“It was a good result for us. The team is getting stronger as we get deeper into the competitions. They are a more cohesive unit and we are looking forward to more challenging games in the other rounds.

“That is sure to happen the further we get in the competition,” he said.
