Schalke has made the announcement that they have captured Kevin-Prince Boateng from AC Milan for an undisclosed fee. The 26 year old midfielder who featured for Milan in the champions league qualifier against PSV, has finally moved back to Germany after he left Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2007.

This has come as a surprise as there was no indication of the player leaving Milan. He featured in their champions league qualifier scoring twice and he seemed happy with his team-mates. Boateng was also a key member of the Milan squad and so it is quite surprising that he was allowed to leave.

Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt confirmed the signing of Boateng at a press conference. He said: ‘He is a player with exceptional qualities and a great leader. It was easy to convince the player to come- the challenge in the transfer came in convincing Milan to part with him. He will wear the number 9 jersey.’

This is a very good coup by the Gelsenkirchen club as they are getting a player with lots of experience from a top club and a champion who knows what it takes to go the extra mile. He will surely add lots of creativity, steel and drive to the Schalke midfield and it will be no surprise if he win over the fans very quickly.
