Five-time champions Arnett Gardens came from behind to clip a struggling Humble Lion 2-1 in a thriller on Monday at the Stadium East Complex in the final match of round three in the Jamaica Premier League.

Humble Lion struck first in the 7th minute through their point man Vishnul Harris, slotting his shot past Chadeem Rodriques in the Arnett goal. However, Jonoy Cunningham levelled things in the 14th minute with a pulsating header inside the penalty area from an Oshane Roberts corner kick.

In a tale of two halves, Humble Lion looked convincing to salvage a point from the game but was humbled in the 75th minute when Renaldo Cephas broke their hearts and the deadlock with a clinical finish for the match-winner.

Arnett Gardens are now three points from two games and are already showing signs of a threatening outfit to lift a sixth title.

Assistant coach of Arnett Gardens Lamar Brown was happy with the aggressiveness the “Junglists” displayed, enjoying 51 per cent of the ball and having attempted 19 shots on goal with 9 of them hitting the target.

“Today was pleasing with that we get off the season with our first win and lots of shots on goal. Very pleasing,” Brown revealed.

As it stands, Humble Lion should be looking to be more consistent in their future games, having lost their first three fixtures of the season. Head Coach of Humble Lion Andrew Price said that his men paid the price because they were not consistent throughout the game.

“I think we played in patches and we weren’t very consistent throughout the game and we are just going to have to continue to work,” Pryce said.

“We didn’t played well enough today, we didn’t played well enough to win the game today and we have to accept that. We have to look in the mirror and see that we weren’t good enough today. We have to keep working hard and keep putting more energy when we are on the field, the energy wasn’t there today,” Pryce continued.

It is still early days into the season and Pryce believes that his team will start to create good fortune for themselves and will remain tough contenders in the Jamaica Premier League.

“It will turn around. It’s going to take time, like I have said we have been out for fifteen months, it’s going to take time. Players having been playing, haven’t been training we just started training June the 2nd. It’s going to take time but we are going to stick to the process and keep working hard until it gets better,” Price closed.

The exciting Jamaica Premier League continues on Saturday with a doubleheader. Arnett Garden will seek their second win of the season against season campaigners Cavalier SC and the Stars of the East will battle Dunbeholden FC.
