The Constant Spring Field comes alive today, Wednesday 28th of March 2018 as defending champions Tivoli Gardens FC will tackle 2015 champions Waterhouse FC at 6:30 pm in the curtain raiser, while 2016 champions Arnett Gardens FC will engage the 2013 champions Harbour View in the days feature encounter at 8: 30 pm.
All four teams are seeking a spot in the finals of the JN Visa/KSAFA Jackie Bell Knockout football competition. The winners will receive $400,000, the runners-up will pocket $250,000, while the third-place team will take home $150,000, and fourth will bag $100,000. All four teams involved in the semi finals are in the ‘big six’ of the country’s elite comepition and all have a point to prove.
WATERHOUSE FC VS TIVOLI GARDENS FC
Will this match up be a David vs Goliath or a reminder of one of those vintage cross town rivalries. Waterhouse advanced with a 2-0 win over a valiant Bull Bay. Gary McIntosh gave Waterhouse the lead in the 29th minute before Andre McFarlane sealed the victory in the second half. The masterful tactician Donvan Duckie is leading the charge and has so far taken them from the jaws of relegation to top six in the Red Stripe Premier League and top four in the JN Visa/KSAFA Jackie Bell Knockout competition. Waterhouse will be looking for goals from the inform Cordell Benbow, Kemar Beckford and Allan Ottey.
Meanwhile defending champions Tivoli Gardens FC, defeated Rockfort 3-0 to book their passge to the semi finals. Andre Moulton got a brace in a ‘man of the match’ display, while the tricky Trayvone Reid completed the rout with a sublime finish. After narrowly missing out on an automatic semi finals birth in the Red Stripe Premier League they will be seeking to retain their title comes what may.
ARNETT GARDENS VS HARBOUR VIEW FC
Two of the winningest teams in this competition go head to head in what promises to be a George Foreman vs Ali encounter. Harbour View secured their place in the last four as goals by captain Nicholas Beckett and Kareem Manning led them to a hard fought 2-1 win over a very plucky Brown’s Town outfit. in a game that could have gone either way. Harbour View fought off the challenge and showed their superiority in the second half. Despite the coach’s desperate cry for goals if the “Stars of the East” turned up on the day they can be quite a handful.
Seven time winners Arnett Gardens secured their last-four place by winning in extra time to ease pass Premier League campaigners Boys Town. Twelfth place Boys Town were looking for something to salvage their dreadful season and may have thought they were in the semi finals when veteran Xavian Virgo netted in 86th minute. Three minutes later, before the euphoria could die down, Arnett Gardens talisman and national invitee Fabian Reid pulled the ‘Junglists’ level. Deep into extra time Jason Moore scored to give Arnett the win. The Jerome Waite led team has a slew of weapons in their arsenal that can destroy any team on any given day.
Can Junior McGregor replicate last year’s performance with the tangerine and black troops? Will Harbor View join Arnett Gardens in 7th heaven, will Waterhouse add another silverware to their illustrious trophy cabinet after a fine year or will Arnett make it 8 times and separate the men from the boys? Whatever the results are after the final whistle, this promises to be a mouth watering spectacle.
