Tate out Bailey in at Waterhouse

For all intents and purposes, Marvin Tate would have coached his last game at Waterhouse FC this season after his team succumbed to their third loss in four games at the hands of the UWI FC on Sunday.

A narrow 1-0 loss, their third such defeat in a string of bad results, has seen the former champions slip back into the relegation zone as they remain on 11 points and in 11^th place in the 12 team league.

Speaking with Yardie Sports after the loss on Sunday, Tate admitted to being unable to motivate the players who have been hurting badly since the start of the season.

“It is really difficult to motivate the players right now. We have trained well and we have trained hard but when we go a goal behind in games we are just unable to respond in the way that we should,” he admitted.

An announced pay cut, a day before the big derby game against rivals Marverley/Hughenden had a serious demoralizing effect on the team, who threatened not to play the game before being convinced otherwise.

But things have gotten from bad to worse at the club as the relationship between players and management has soured.

Tate intimated that he doesn’t see his tenure lasting beyond the end of this week as things are way beyond his ability to repair.

The club President, Donovan White is set to meet with the players, probably on Monday, to discuss the sorry state of affairs, but it will certainly take more than discussions to fix the issues now affecting the beleaguered club.

Glendon “Admiral” Bailey who has won the Premier League with Tivoli Gardens, was spotted at the game on Sunday and is heavily tipped to take over the head coaching duties from Tate.

Bailey’s immediate challenge will be to start winning games and get the team out of the relegation zone, but a bigger challenge will be to keep the key players at the club, during the fast approaching transfer window.

While nothing is confirmed about the impending coaching change at Drewsland, it is unlikely that there will be a reversal of a process that seems well advanced at this time.
