The Warriors got the better ofthe Tallawahs earlier this season and the Jamaican team will be looking to turn the tables on their nemesis on Friday night.

South African fast bowler Dale Steyn is hoping for a good first foray in the Hero Caribbean Premier League T-20 competition.  Fully fit and rearing to go, Steyn is looking forward to have a great season, but is a bit concerned with the conditions he has had to bowl in so far.

“The first one (match) was fine, the next two were pretty difficult conditions for the bowlers.  In Guyana the dewy outfield (was a problem). The first over was great, the ball was still hard and rocky.”

The last game that the Tallawahs played ended in a no result as rain put paid to the contest after 10 overs in Barbados so Steyn is looking forward to go weather this time around, when the Jamaica Tallawahs and the Guyana Amazon Warriors meet at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica on Friday beginning at 8:00pm local time.

“It’s not moaning or complaining but it is a reality. In Trinidad it rained, I found it particularly difficult with the landing and everything like that,” he explained.

“The last three games have been pretty tough conditions –in Barbados it rained – you could see the bowlers there all kind of struggled too. Hopefully (we will have) good weather and good conditions and everybody has a fair opportunity of doing their best – but then again that’s cricket. Sometimes it rains, you have to deal with that kind of stuff. If you can overcome it, you can execute your skills, you can be okay – sometimes it just doesn’t work.

The weather in Jamaica has been pretty good, so the players can look forward to excellent conditions to renew the fierce rivalry that exists between the Jamaica Tallawahs and the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

“I’m feeling good, (if) the ball is coming up nicely there is nothing really to complain about – just get on with it,” he concluded.

The Warriors have won five of their six games so far and sit atop the table on ten points. With two wins, one loss and a no-result, the Tallawahs have five points and sit third due to an inferior run rate to the Barbados Tridents, who also have five points.

For the Tallawahs the game against the Warriors is the first in a four game home stand and they will be looking to begin on a good note, but must overcome a wretched run of defeats to their rivals.
