Dean Jones dead at 59

The cricketing world woke up to the sad news of the passing of Australian great Dean Jones at the age of 59. Jones died in Mumbai, India of heart attack today.

Jones who worked as a cricket commentator at the time of his death, played cricket for Australia for a decade between 1984-1994 where he established himself as one of the best in his generation.

During his Test career, Jones scored 3,631 runs for an average of 46.55 while amassing 11 centuries and 14 half-centuries. He also scored seven centuries and forty six fifties in ODI’s where he totaled over 6000 runs.

Tributes have continued to pour in for Jones from many people in the game since news has spread of his passing.

In addition to working as a commentator, Jones also worked as a coach in the sport that he dearly loved.
