Guyana Amazon Warriors stayed unbeaten in the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after defeating the Jamaica Tallawahs at home at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana on Thursday night.

The Warriors won the toss and chose to field on a wicket that was slow and better for bowling. TheTallawahs could only manage 100 runs as they were bundled out in 18 overs and The Warriors got to the target in 18 overs with 7 wicket remaining (101/3).

Chris Gayle went for a first ball duck off Sohail Tanvir and that really set up the match for the Warriors as the Tallawahs never got going. Matters got worse for the visitors when the very experienced Kumar Sangakkara and Chadwick Walton were removed with consecutive deliveries by man of the match Versammy Permaul, with the score at 24/3 in the fifth over.

Shakib Al Hasan and Rovman Powell tried to get the Tallawahs to a respectable total, putting on a 51 runs partnership before ShakiB Al Hasan became Permaul’s third victim after holding out in the deep with the score reading 75/4.

Nkrumah Bonner and Andre McCarthy went back for a duck off consecutive deliveries from Adam Zampa with the Tallawahs struggling at 80/6. The other four wicket fall for 20 runs with Rovman Powell top scoring for the Tallawahs with 38 runs.

The Warriors looked nervous in chasing a measly 100 runs and were in a spot of bother when both openers were sent back by Imad Wasim in the forth over at 11/2. The Tallawahs would feel they were right back in the game removing two of the most dangerous batsmen in Martin Guptill and Dwayne Smith.

The inform Chris Lynn who played for the Tallawahs last season came back to haunt them as he and Jason Mohammed put on 42 runs for the third wicket before Mohammed went back when Shakib Al Hasan had him plumb in front with the score at 53/3.

Anthony Bramble came and joined Lynn at the crease and wasted no time in getting the 48 runs required to take the Warriors over the line. Lynn was left unbeaten on 39 off 35 balls and Bramble 27 off 18 balls. The win mean the Warriors lead the standing with 6 points.
