JAMAICA OFF TO A GOOD START IN JEAN PIERRE UNDER-16 NETBALL TOURNAMENT

Jamaica got their campaign at the Caribbean Netball Association Jean Pierre Under-16 Tournament with a 48 – 8 win over Antigua and Barbuda. The scoring was led by Denay Thomas 18/22, Zandria Cohen 9/12, Kamia Daley 17/19 and Felicia Smith 4/5.

The losing team was supported with efforts from Rayana Regis 8/11, Kahtalia Valentine 0/3. Jamaica led in all quarters opening with a 13-0 first quarter. They increased their score to, 27-2, and 37-3, before closing out the final quarter at 48-8.

The defending champions Barbados also got off to a winning note, registering 38- 17 win over Grenada. Top scorers for the Bajans were Tower Lorde 24/31 and Rashanna Thorne 14/19. Carlene Alexander led scoring for the Spice Girls with 15/20 attempts and supported by Holly Ann Charles 2/3.

In other matches Bermuda turned back the challenge of Trinidad and Tobago 24 -13. There was also a win for the St Lucia Team edging Dominica
