Jordan Foote, the Holy Trinity High schoolboy football star, has lost his leg.

The 18 year old was diagnosed with cancer in his knee this summer following extended treatment of the troublesome joint.

He had been informed of the need to amputate after the results of the biopsy were known, but had asked that the procedure be delayed until after the Christmas Holidays.

However, after the area became extremely swollen and painful over the past few days, Foote was taken to the hospital by his coach Devon Anderson on Wednesday.

Doctors then performed the operation late Thursday evening, removing his leg from five inches above the knee.

“We are all heartbroken,” said a very downbeat Anderson. “It has been a very difficult time for the school community and his teammates especially. Everyone is trying to remain strong for him but it is really very difficult.”

Anderson who is clearly deeply affected by the entire situation says he has been watching football as therapy, as he tries to cope with the situation that has befallen his young charge.

The problems do not end with the operation however as the doctors believe that the cancer has been aggressively spreading throughout the body of Foote and will have to do another biopsy soon to determine what course of treatment will be required next.
