EXCITING MATCHUPS IN DACOSTA CUP QUARTERFINALS

A round down of the ISSA/FLOW DaCosta Cup quarterfInals shows that already, some of the favoured teams are being made to play catch up. It came as a suprise to many after teams that emerged top of their groups in the preliminary matches and earned spots in the coveted Super League, were left on the losing end, following last Wednesday’s games.

In Group P Lacovia High, thanks a good second half dominant offensive display defeated the high riding Manchester high 2-1 to move top the group. Paul Bogle were also in the winner’s edge, rolling past St.James 1-0 in their match up.

Over in Group S Dinthill stunned defending champions Clarendon College, beating them 2-1 at the Juici Patties Field. Ruseas managed to pull off a 3-2 victory against Glenmuir in the other group game.

After dominating their game and out shooting their opponent, St. Elizabeth Technical earned their just reward with a 4-2 scoreline over Marcus Garvey Technical in Group R.The Vere Technical team had but few scoring opportunities against the Westmoreland based Mannings School, but still managed a 1-0 victory margin.

In Group Q it was a one all stalemate between Petersfield and Seaforth while in the earlier group match up both Lennon High and Port Antonio ended with clean sheets.

The Dinthill team is now in a position where making semifinals and a spot in the Ben Francis Cup is a real possibility, as they will play against the Ruseas team in top a table clash at Dinthill.

The Clarendon College team will look to increase pace in their hunt for group honours. They will however have to revive their masterstrokes they showcased prior to beginning of Interzone action, as they lock horns with Patrick ‘Jackie’ Walters coached unit at 3pm on Wednesday November 4 at the Juici Patties Field.

The other winners from last week will move a step closer to consolidating their places in the Ben Francis and semifinal spots when action resume on Wednesday, November 4.

It will be Mannings against Marcus Garvey at the Frome Sports Complex. STETHS will play Vere Tech at home while Manchester will seek to put back things on track as they oppose Paul Bogle.

St. James will try to quickly correct their mishaps from game one as they opposed a confident Lacovia team at Jarrett Park. Port Antonio will lock horns with Petersfield at Carder Park and Seaforth High will entertain Lennon High at York Oval. All matches will begin at 3pm.
