Vauxhall held Wolmer’s 1-1 in their Manning Cup second round match that was called off in the 83rd minute due to rain at the Constant Spring field on Monday. Based of the rules of the competition the seven minutes plus time to be added on will be played on another day.

ISSA will announce more about what will take place with the match.

It was raining heavily when the match officials and the coaches came to agreement that the match must end due to the condition of the field.

The sun was very hot at the start of the 1pm affair between the Windward Road based school and the Hero’s Circle based school.

Vauxhall started out the better team and looked dangerous when going forward. They looked business like as they were pressuring for ball when not in their possession, but Wolmer’s who has been really good in defence this season stood firm at the back again.

Striker Tyane Wilson did breach the Wolmer’s defence in the 26th minute, flicking a ball over the keeper head that went in the net to give Vauxhall the lead.

Wolmer’s found motivation from going a goal down and started to look dangerous going forward and got a couple of half chances that they did not make use of.Good goal keeping from Javonie Panton, saving a powerfully header from Wolmer’s leading scorer Alphanso Gooden meant Wolmer’s would have to try again.

However, Wolmer’s looked the better team as they searched for a goal to level the contest and they were back on level terms through their striker Alphanso Gooden, who controled a ball in the box and held his composure to find the back of the net from close range in the 37th minute.

It was a fear result for both teams heading to the break as they both had chances and it was very good game of football.

The second half did not produce much action as both team was very good defensively, not many goal scoring opportunities were crated for the strikers with the midfielders seeing most of the possession.

The rain came but were playing until the field became a swamp and it was not in any condition for football to be played.
