Wolmer’s defeated Jamaica College 4-3 on penalties on Wednesday to book a spot in the Walker Cup final , where they will meet St. George’s College who edge St. Jago 3-2 at constant spring where both games was played.

The sun was barking down at Constant Spring, which set the tone for an exciting double header. Jamaica College started the game well and was trying to settle and move around the ball, but Wolmer’s did not allow that happen for any long periods in the game as they were very alert and quick to clear their lines.

Wolmer’s who was very discipline and organized in defence showed that they were not willing to give up any goals, while they tried to hit Jamaica College on the counter.

There was not much action from both teams in the attacking third as both defences really stood up and played without fear. It was Wolmers’ who got the best opportunity of the first half just around the half hour mark, when Alphanso Gooden skipped past his marker on the left and played a beautiful ball to Rojay Smith who choose to shoot just inside the Jamaica College 18 yard box and Jahmarli Waite in goal made an easy save.

Both goalkeepers had very little to do, with both teams not taking plenty of shots and when they did most of them went wide of the target.

JC Coach Miguel Coley did change up things by making a substitution in the 40th minute, taking out midfielder Maurice Wilson for striker Ronaldo Brown.

The first half had no intensity and nothing really for the supporters at Constant Spring to cheer for with both sets of midfield seeing most of the possession.

The second half was like the first but Jamaica College did express themselves better, but a Wolmer’s team that was focused and looked willing to take the game into penalties did not make JC cause too much danger.

Wolmers’ lost their captain Calvin Kelly suffering from a groin injury that left him in tears and pain trying to leave the stadium.

Chevaun Crooks just do not look like the same player he was a season ago, he has not been as clinically as he was at Charlie Smith.

Crooks did get the best scoring opportunity of the game in minute 86, when Chadwayne Johnson played a brilliant ball to him. Crooks controlled well but was left frustrated with his right foot shot that went wide of the target.

Nonetheless, 90 minutes could not separate the two and neither did 20 minutes of extra time with either team creating goal scoring opportunities.

Wolmers’ goalkeeper Shamar Jemison made a save and so did Jahmarli Waite goalkeeper of Jamaica College, but it was Donovan Segree’s penalty that went over the cross that made the difference with Wolmer’s running out 4-3 winners.
