Cavalier moved one place up the table to third in the Red Stripe Premier League on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Rivoli United for their second consecutive win of the season while their opponents slipped one place down to seventh.

The young and talented Ryan Miller who spent one year with the Philadelphia Union Academy in the Major League Soccer (MLS) gave the home team the lead just before half time, guiding a ball he receive inside the box passed Damian Campbell in goal.

Rivoli United had a few glimpses on goal earlier in the half but Cavalier was well composed and tough at the back making sure there were no errors.

After the break Cavalier went on the hunt for the insurance goal as they pressured the Rivoli goal. Rivoli got a few corners but they did not threaten the Cavalier team as they were able to clear them with ease.

Cavalier won most of the balls in midfield and the Rivoli team just could not respond with Cavalier searching for a goal to put to the game to bed.

Chevone Marsh who came on in minute 75th for Oshane Jenkins, doubled Cavalier lead in the 83rd minute after receiving a well measured pass inside the box by Jerome Smith.

Both goal keepers did not have much to do as both team really fine it hard to really get going the final third. Rivoli did not have answer to a well compact and organize Cavalier defense that had little to do on the day.

Marsh could have scored his second and his team’s third in stoppage team, when he was played in by Donovan McCurdy but a brilliant save from Damian Campbell ensured Cavalier did not win by a bigger margin.

“I am satisfied with how we played, but we could have scored a few more goals today. That will be something we will be working on in order to close out games and not letting our opponents back in with a chance to get even a point” said a very happy looked Rudolph Speed.

“We played very poor today and made a lot of errors in defense and that cost us to concede two very soft goals. We will just work hard for the rest of the season and fix these little errors we have been making,” a very disappointed Harold Thomas said.

Cavalier will face off with last season’s beaten finalists Montego Bay United in a rescheduled encounter.
