MIXED FLOW IN DACOSTA CUP EARLY SEASON GAMES

DaCosta Cup,Cornwall College,STETHS,Clarendon College,

Most of the top ranked Dacosta Cup ‘DCup’ teams have been having an almost perfect start to the season in their respective groups and continues to flex their championship muscles with some convincing victories. Among the impressive campaigners are surprise group E leader Lacovia High school who is 10 points from four starts. Former DCup champion St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS), currently sits in fourth base on goal difference, on 5 points from four games. B.B. Coke High who eked out a surprise win over the more fancied STETHS on Tuesday, in the process climbed into 2nd spot also on 7 points from four starts as well. Former champions Munro College with a single win from season is languishing second from the bottom on 4 point in six team group.

Over in Group F, Manchester High currently leads on 12 points with a perfect record. They are being trailed by Mile Gully High and Cross Keys both neck and neck on 7 points, with identical records of two wins, a loss and draw. DeCarteret College on 6 points is trying desperately to close the gap on the top three.

Frome Technical and Ruseas High are both locked on six points, and having a ding dong battle in Zone B, separated only by goal difference. The Russians have played two games to date, one less, than leaders Frome Technical.

Cornwall College holds a one point lead over St James in a tightly bunched Zone A. After a massive 8-1 hammering of the Irwin High in their opening fixture, Cornwall was held to a one all draw by Green Pond High. The St James team also got by the Irwin in their season opener, but was also held to a draw in their second match against Cornwall College.

In Group O, Paul Bogle High is finally picking up the pace, sitting atop on 6 points from three games played. They bounced back after suffering a surprise defeat in their opening game at the hands of third place team Robert Lightbourne, which is one of the teams to watch this season. They are currently separated by Seaforth High in second on 5 points.

Defending champions Clarendon College who is keen on holding on to their trophy, currently leads their Zone (H) on seven points from three games after a demotivating six nil clobbering of Edwin Allen High in the season opener. They should easily progress as group winners, but Lennon High who held them to a one all draw, should give another stern test in their return leg match.

Other teams who have reasonable good campaigns are Group N leader Vere Technical with just a single defeat thus far. Islington High in Group J and Group K frontrunners Dinthill technical are yet to drop any points and are sitting on 10 points with identical zone records. However both teams are just a point of the closet zone rivals in Annotto Bay and Ewarton High respectively.

In Group L, Port Antonio High is holding firm with two from two and should progress easily from that group.

Marcus Garvey Technical is ruling the roost in Group I, three wins from four starts. Their only defeat came via second place York Castle High school, who trails them on seven points.

Zone M is being led by the color red team of Clarendon, Glenmuir High , who have started on a good footing, winning their single game with relative ease. Denbigh High who should offer the strongest challenge to that team, wrapped up an easy win in their opening game as well.
