Chris Gayle is to do surgery on his back and it may keep him out of action for about three months. The hard hitting batsman has just finished with 430 runs from 10 matches played in the Hero Caribbean premier league (CPL) asked his fans to wish him luck as he gets ready to do his surgery after he make an appearance in a charity match in August.

Gayle who is 35 years old has been troubled by his back for some time and it has caused him to miss plenty of matches due to pain. Just this year he had to miss a match in the ICC Cricket World Cup and in the Indian Premier League (IPL), for his team Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Jamaican born Gayle stated that he would be going to do a surgery on his back , after his team Jamaica Tallawahs lost in a semifinal to Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel.

“I have a charity game on August 2nd, but after that I will be out of cricket for two to three months. I am going to do a surgery on my back”, Gayle said.

“So I need some time for recovery. It’s probably December, before I actually get to play cricket again. You have got to wish me luck with that surgery and then I will be back strong.

“Who knows, we will see what happens”, He added.

Should Gayle return in December he may be playing for his team in the Australia, Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash T-20 Competition.
