Digicel Kickstart Pre-Clinic rolls out in Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica – Thirty young men from schools right across the island will participate in an intensive two-day training camp with coaches from the Chelsea FC Foundation, David Monk and Max Fouracre.

The youngsters, aged 13-16, will be taken through a number of drills to test their readiness and technical aptitude for the next level in their football career journey. They will also go through rigorous training in agility, coordination and ball mastery.

“It’s fantastic to be back in Jamaica and finish the Kickstart tour on a high note,” said Monk. “For this clinic, we’re looking for three things—we’re looking for creativity, someone with great technical skills and is able to play in more than one position and finally, someone who will be a wonderful ambassador to Jamaica.”

Kamal Powell, Digicel’s Senior Sponsorship Manager also noted that, “Digicel is keen on helping to develop young talented athletes in Jamaica and across the region. As such, we have invested in a several programmes geared towards molding these youngsters into the next generation of movers and shakers on the field. We’re very happy to have the Chelsea FC on board with us on this initiative and we have no doubt that it will be another successful.”

At the end of the clinic, three boys will be selected to attend the international Kickstart Academy, where they will train with coaches from top European football clubs.
