Grassroots football,Digicel,

Further to the announcement at the Launch of Year 3 of the Digicel/JFF Grassroots programme, each child attending the Digicel/JFF Grassroots festivals will now be able to take home their own ball. Each child will go away with a football, compliments of Digicel, enabling them to continue to develop on the skills, drills and techniques imparted at the ongoing Grassroots festivals across the island.

Digicel’s Sponsorship Manager Mr. Kamal Powell shared the company’s commitment to this initiative, noting that “ to perfect and master anything in life, you must have access to the right tools. For the sport of football, practicing daily with the ball is one of the most important things young footballers can do.”

Andre’ Virtue, National Grassroots Coordinator notes that “ its all about repetition. The more a child practices whether at training or at home, the more proficient they become in handling and mastering the ball. This investment will mean a lot to each and every child that comes and will go a far way in supporting the development of football in Jamaica, which is what the Grassroots programme is all about”.

The first presentation took place at the at the Watson Taylor Park in Hanover on Saturday,

The Digicel/JFF Grassroots festival began at 1:00pm after which some 100 participating kids received their own ball.
