Red Stripe Premier League cellar dwellers, Cavalier SC and Reno FC played out a drab goalless draw at the Stadium East Field on Sunday to remain firmly rooted at the foot of the table.

Reno who started this game in 11th place in the standings one point ahead of Barbican were looking to get three points away from home from Cavalier to climb out of the regulation zone, but it was not so as they were left to settle with a point. Cavalier started the game on 23 points were looking to get back to winning ways against their opponent who have been struggling since claiming the Flow Champions Cup.

It was a game that did not bring out too many spectators and both teams were struggling to make passes and looked unorganized.

Reno’s Renorio Downswell was left with space 25 yards out from goal and he tried a shot that just elude the crossbar. Donovan Alveranga brilliant cross into the box was met by the head of Donovan McCurdy who he was denied by the Reno defenders.

Cavalier was struggling to get passes together and Reno was pressing and winning the ball regularly but failed to capitalize on the mistakes by the Cavalier defenders.

The home team looked nervous in defense and had very little punch in attack. Chevon Marsh tried to run at the Reno defense but he was negotiated by his opponents.

Cavalier luck continued to desert them and in minute 73 Kamoy Simpson dismissed his marker and found space to fire a shot at the top of the box. He was denied by the wood work, as the ball went past the outreach right arm of Devaughn Hawthorne in goal for Reno.

Cavalier were looking the better team in the final 15 minutes and created a couple of goal scoring opportunities that they did not make the most of. In the 85th minute, Reno failed to clear the ball and Davion Alves fired his shot wide of the target.

Reno’s Orane Warren was shown a second yellow card followed by a red card for a harsh tackle in minute 86th.

Marsh then went by his marker and crossed a dangerous ball into the box, which Girvon Brown could not manage to get in the net.

In stoppage time Al Nesbeth’s free kick from 28 yards gave the Reno custodian trouble as he spilled the ball but luckily no Cavalier player reacted quick enough to get a shot to claim all three points.

Cavalier drought in front of goal continued as they failed to score yet again.

“I think we did fairly well. We created the chances but we just did not put the ball in the back of the net. We are just having a bad time in front goal at the moment but am sure we will get back to our goal scoring ways again”, said Rudolph Speed coach of Cavalier.

“We are satisfied for a point on the road. We had the opportunities to get all three points but a point on the road, I can’t complain, knowing that this coaching staff have just took over for two weeks now. We should be in tip top shape by the next two weeks” ,said the assistant coach of Reno.
