Mitch on a mission for UWI

Mitch Wright is on a mission. The University of the West Indies (UWI) striker, hit a hat-trick for the Pelicans in their 7-1 rout of Rae Town in their third game of the Jamaica National/KSAFA Super League season to raise his tally to four goals.

Speaking with Yardie Sports after the game, the 25 year old said, “It feels good to bag a hat-trick today, having lost the last game. We trained harder this week (last week) and we did a lot of finishing drills so I am happy it paid off.”

The striker is not at all surprised with is tally explaining that – ”I felt it from in training during the week.”

There could be a lot more in store from the player and his team as he believes that things are coming together at the right time.

“The team chemistry is building and the midfielders are understanding how I play now. We are going on a break for the holidays but I will keep working during that period to maintain my edge. My mission is to keep scoring goals for this team and lead us to ultimate success which is the Red Stripe Premier League.”

The UWI has come close to making the playoffs on a number of occasions but have stumbled close to the line each time. If Wright can maintain his rich vein of form, this could just be the year that UWI finally arrives at the “promise land”.
