Brown bags brace for UWI on return from injury

Having missed the start of the season due to a knee injury sustained playing in another competition, University of the West Indies striker, Jeffery Brown, returned to action in the Jamaica National/KSAFA Super League in December with a bang.

The player hit a brace in less than fifteen minutes when he came on as a second half substitute to help the Pelicans brush aside a hapless Rae Town 7-1 at the UWI Bowl.

“It is a great feeling to be on the score sheet and even better to get two goals. Most importantly we won the game, but it is always good to score and build confidence after coming off an injury.”

Brown is not so happy that the holiday break has arrived at this time but plans to make the best of the situation anyhow.

“The break might affect us because we are just gathering some momentum but it won’t affect me personally because I will still be in training. I have just returned to competitive action so I have to keep working so that when the league resumes in January I can hit the ground running,” he explained.

The Marcel Gayle coached UWI Pelicans has two wins and a loss from three games so far this season and a looking to head in the right direction in the New Year.

Team Manager Kerry-Ann Robinson is quite confident of what the team can achieve this season suggesting that the squad is a very balanced one while issuing a warning that her striker force is deadlier than ever.
