The second semi-final of the LIME Super Cup held at the National Stadium on Saturday was a well anticipated match up between last year’s champions of the rural area, St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and the urban area Jamaica College (JC). It brought out the largest crowd of the competition thus far.

Jamaica College who got the better of the Santa Cruz based STETHS last year in the Olivier Shield, could not have anticipated such an easy semi-final. STETHS was expected to give Jamaica College a fight and was on the cards for some to get the better of JC this time around.

STETHS began pressing JC from the opening whistle but JC responded through captain Junior Flemmings who swiftly got past his marker and pulled off a shot. Carson Findlay made a brilliant save diving to his left to keep the scores level after just five minutes.

Raffique Bryan played a through-ball to Flemmings in the 9th minute but goalkeeper Findlay read the pass and came off his line to clear the danger.

Flemmings was proving to be a menace to the STETHS defense and in the 16th minute he went around his marker but fire wide of the goal.

STETHS got a chance, due to some poor JC defending, when Jovoney Brown stole the ball on the left hand side and ran into the box, but his touch was too hard and the JC custodian Courtney Dowdie came and collected the ball.

Jamaica College received a penalty when Jamar Purrell was brought down inside the area in the 27th minute. Captain Flemmings stepped up to give his team a well deserved lead when he sent his penalty kick in the roof of the net.

Flemmings became provider for Jamaica College second goal in the 37th minute when the tall figure of Sheldon McKoy met his flighted corner with his head to power home. JC went to the break leading 2-0.

Junior Flemmings continued to haunt the STETHS defense and in the 55th minute he made a breath taking run before delivering a teasing cross which was swept up by the STETHS custodian before any JC player could get to it.

STETHS did get the ball in the back of the net in the 66th minute but it was ruled out for offside. They manged to cut the deficit in the 72nd minute through Rushane McClymount, The powerful defender scored from a free kick from 25 yards, that went past Findlay like a rocket.

Soon after Flemmings came close to double his tally but the STETHS defense picked his pocket.

Substitute Shemar Robinson gave JC back a two goal advantage with his first touch of the ball, tucking away a ball at the far post in the 78th minute.

With 85 minutes in the clock the stadium erupted as the JC fans were cheering on their team to hold on to the end.

The final whistle signalled the end of the chances of a rural area team getting first hold on the LIME Super Cup

Jamaica College will face off with Holy Trinity High in a bid to claim the title of schoolboy all-island knock-out champions.
