Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo picked up an injury in the Manchester derby and is said to be out for just 3 matches. The 24 year old Argentine suffered a dislocated shoulder injury after he made a sliding challenge of fellow countryman Martin Demichelis. It was feared that he would be out for a very long time but his father has since confirmed that it is not as serious as first thought.

There have been several reports in the English media that the former Sporting Lisbon defender would be missing at least 3 month of action due to the injury. However his father, Marcos Rojo Sr, said his son will miss three games, 2 of which are friendly matches for Argentina.

He said, ‘Luckily, he is fine and at home and it was nothing serious, but he is going to miss two or three matches.’

Rojo himself wrote a message on his Twitter page thanking everyone for their kind words and support but also reassured the public that it wasn’t very serious. He would have been hoping that it wouldn’t be serious because he is a character that hates being on the sidelines. He wrote, ‘Thank you all for your messages. Thank God it was nothing.’

Manchester United now has a home game against Crystal Palace at the weekend which they will be looking to take all three points. They will be without the Argentine defender as well as Chris Smalling through suspension while Phil Jones and Johnny Evans are still injured. Louis van Gaal may have to call upon Tyler Blackett who was at the heart of their defence earlier in the season as well as Paddy McNair or even Michael Carrick.
