Defending champions Jamaica College continued the defence of their Inter secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/LIME Manning Cup title with an effortless 3-0 win over a docile St. Andrew Technical High School at their Hope Road play field on Monday, to register their 6th consecutive win in the 2014 edition of the tournament.

Despite their territorial dominance, it took eleven minutes for JC to create their first threat on goal when Donovan Dawkins blasted wide of the goal after Cliff Dumetz rushed out of the STATHS goal to deny Junior Flemmings.
Sheldon McKay and Rafiqque Bryan, the twin towers for JC in midfield, were dominating the playing and hitting diagonals out to Donovan Segree on the left flank to run at the STATHS defence.

Bryan was the next to go close for JC in the 20th minute, but was denied by a last ditch tackle from Jamal Alexander as he bare down on goal.
Three minutes later it appeared that Ronaldo Brown had finally given the home team the lead, but his shot was deflected agonizingly wide for a corner. Brown did manage to fire home from the resultant corner to give JC the deserved lead on minute 24.

The expected onslaught on the STATHS goal never materialized and resolute defending saw them hold the champions all the way to the stroke of half time. Just when it appeared that the teams would go in 1-0 at the break McKoy doubled the JC advantage. The tall midfielder met a Flemmings cross with a powerful header that was acrobatically tipped over by Dumetz. McKoy made no mistake from 8 yards out with a simple side foot finish when the resulting corner was steered his way. JC were 2-0 up at the break and heading for another three points.

The second half saw JC put in another dominant display as they controlled possession and the flow of the play. The Miguel Coley coached team completed the scoring in the 59th minute, when defender Allando Brown rose highest at the back post to power home his header directly from a corner kick.

Coley rang the changes as he allowed a few of the squad players a chance to play. Nacquain Brown almost took full use of the opportunity, coming close on two occasions to add to his team’s tally.

After watching yet another clinical display from his team Coley was pleased with his team’s showing, “We are working on being more composed and cohesive in midfield and we saw that today. We want to be able to maintain possession for long periods and that was achieved along with another clean sheet.

“We have conceded only one goal so far this season so these are the things that we continue to focus on because we know the goals will come,” he concluded.
