Defending Sherwin Williams Women’s League champions Barbican FC has virtually booked their spot in the mid-season finals following their win over Olympic Gardens on match day six. They travel to the Elleston Wakeland Centre to take on second from bottom Trelawny Women’s FC today, confident of maintaining their unbeaten streak and will no doubt be looking to maintain their distance from the chasing pack.

Trelawny Women have been less than inspiring so far this season and will be hard pressed to get something from the encounter. They are a team in transition and have struggled to find consistency, managing just 4 points from five games.

Waterhouse FC will host the inconsistent Olympic Gardens clinging to the hope that Trelawny can do them a favour and they in turn can inflict a heavy defeat on the visitors to sneak into the mid-season finals ahead of Barbican.

While that is an unlikely scenario, Waterhouse will be in search of the full three points as they maintain their focus of the ultimate prize at the end of the season. Olympic on the other hand will be trying to pull off a mild upset and add to their meagre five points return so far this season.

Rangers FC have had a torrid time of it in this their first season in the competition. They are probably looking forward to the mid-season break to regroup for the second round, but first they host Arnett Gardens in their last game of the first round. With only one point secured thus far, the St. Mary based team will be looking to end the round with a respectable result.

Arnett are third in the zone, 6 points behind leaders Barbican and 3 behind Waterhouse. Staying in touch with the top two must be the main thing on their agenda, so they are unlikely to make the trek to the St. Mary Sports Complex a major factor in their performance. If what has transpired so far this season continues to hold, then Arnett Gardens should return with all three points.

Portmore Strikers have already completed all their games of the round and sit in mid-table with their 6 points.

All games begin at 3:30pm.
